44 combinations started in the CSI3* Grand Prix of Beervelde, a 1m60 test with jump off sponsored by Nano, FHE, STX and Catwalk. 12 qualified for a jump off that made everyone hold their breath: 8 Belgian combinations tried to get the title, but Brazilian rider Marlon Modolo Zanotelli bested them all.
Marlon and Extra van Essene (Diamant de Semilly x Gotthardsen) performed a clear jump off in a 41.29 sec. time. The following riders all tried hard: Koen Vereecke and Jativia (Cardento x Gottwald) had the best time, but took one fence down. For a while, everyone cheered as Christophe Vanderhasselt and Identity Vitseroel finished their jump off, but the very last fence came down.
Breathtaking sport and a well-deserved winner here in the arena of Flanders Horse Event. The second place was for Wouter Devos, who also had a very good week here: this is the third second place in Beervelde for Wouter, after the Masters and yesterday’s small GP. Wouter rode Emporio van ‘t Holeinde (Fetiche du Pas x Acorado) in this Grand Prix and performed a clear round in 42.08 sec.
The third place was for young talent Gilles Thomas and Cantario (Casiro I x Cantus): they stayed clear in 44.25 sec.
The grand finale was the occasion to hand out the prizes for best rider and best female rider of the CSI3* to Koen Vereecke and Beezie Madden.
